Badgers for Beginners Workshop

, Start Time: 10:00, End Time: 16:00

Join Emily Platt, Species Protection Co-ordinator from the charity Scottish Badgers for a free workshop to learn about how badgers live, the threats they face and how to look for badger setts & signs in the field. Starting with an indoor session, Emily will take you through badger biology & ecology; legislation & badger crime; and an introduction to badger surveying including survey planning, Health & Safety, field signs, map work and recording. This will be followed by an afternoon fieldwork session consisting a guided visit to a badger sett after which attendees would carry out a practice survey on a nearby site with known badger presence.

This is a joint initiative between Inner Forth Landscape Partnership and Scottish Badgers (www.scottishbadgers.org.uk). For those attending the course, there will also be further opportunity to practice your survey skills on full-day, guided surveys on Wednesday 5th April 2017 from 10am to 4pm (north of the Forth estuary) & Saturday 8th April 2017 from 10am to 4pm (south of the Forth estuary).

Booking is essential, please contact the IFLI team on info@innerforthlandscape.co.uk or 01324 831 568.
